पाणी ४

नगरपालिकेचे पाणी इतक्या कष्टानी म्हणजे ४-४ दिवसांनी आलेले, त्यामुळे होम अरेस्ट करुन घेऊन भरलेले, भरपूर पाण्याचा साठा करायला लागणारे पाणी किमान शुद्ध आणि पिण्यायोग्य असते का?

साधारण एप्रिल  ते  नोव्हेंबर मध्ये तरी याचे उत्तर 'अजिबात नाही' असंच असते.  इचलकरंजीला पंचगंगा नदीचे पाणी नगरपालिका पुरवते. पंचगंगा उन्हाळ्यामध्ये इतकी आटते की एखादा माणूस सहज चालत चालत नदीच्या एका किनाऱ्यावरून दुसऱ्या किनाऱ्यावर जाऊ शकतो. पावसाळ्यात किंवा हिवळ्यात कोणीही या नदी मध्ये  कोणी काठावर देखिल उतरत नाही कारण लगेच बुडायला होते पण उन्हाळ्यात पाण्याचा प्रवाह कमीही असतो आणि त्यामुळे रंग सुद्धा काळपट प्रकर्षाने जाणवतो. गाव कोल्हापूर जिल्ह्यामध्ये  असल्यामुळे मुख्य पीक आहे ऊस. उसाची शेती पंचगंगेच्या दोन्ही किनाऱ्यावर होते. शेती साठी सरकार जवळजवळ फ्री वीज देते. किनाऱ्यावरच्या या शेतीवर कधी कधी तर रात्रभर मोटर ने पाणीपुरवठा होतो. ऊसाला जास्त पाणी दिले तरी चालतं पण यामुळे किती पाणी आणि वीज सुद्धा वाया जाते याचा काही हिशोबच नाही. गावात इंडस्ट्री भरपूर असल्यामुळे त्यांचे प्रदूषित पाणी या उरल्या सुरल्या पाण्यामध्ये मिसळते आणि जास्तच काळपट होते.

पावसाळ्यात नदीला खूप पूर येतो. नदीचे पाणी मातकट लाल रंगाचे  होते. शुगर फॅक्टरी नदीच्या डाव्या बाजूला आहे. पावसाळ्याच्या सुरवातीला यातून मळी चे लालसर पाणी यामध्ये सोडले जाते. असे पाणी नगरपालिकेला स्वछ करणे अवघड असते. नंतरच्या दिवसात तर जोरदार पूर येतो आणि काहीवेळा तर पाण्याच्या शुद्धीकरण चा प्लांट नीट काम करत नाही. या दिवसात बरेचदा पाण्यामध्ये आळ्या आढळल्या आहेत.

नंतर नोव्हेंबर मध्ये कारखाने आपले टॅंक धुतात आणि त्यांचे अशुद्ध पाणी नदी च्या पाण्यात मिसळते. या दिवसात बरेचदा गॅस्ट्रो वगैरे रोगांच्या साथी पसरतात.

घरात आलेले पाणी हे किमान उकळुन तरी घ्यावेच लागते.  बरेचदा पहिल्यांदा पाण्यामध्ये तुरटी फिरवावी  लागते त्याने गाळ खाली बसला की पाणी फिल्टर मध्ये टाकावे लागते. मग फिल्टर झालेले पाणी गॅस वर २० मिनिटे उकळायला लागते मग हे पाणी थंड करून प्यायला वापरले जाते. बहुतेक श्रीमंत आणि उच्च मध्यमवर्गीयांकडे aqua gaurds बसवलेले असतात.

तरिही बाहेरगावचे लोक आले की त्यांना या पाण्यातील जंतूंचा प्रादुर्भाव होतो.

काही लोक या सगळ्याला कंटाळून कूपनलिकेतील पाणी पिण्यासाठी वापरतात पण ते पाणी क्षारयुक्त असल्यामुळे  किडनी स्टोन सारख्या दीर्घकाळ चालणाऱ्या आजारांच्या रुग्णांची मोठ्या प्रमाणात वाढ होते आहे.

आशा करते कि हे चित्र लवकरात लवकर बदलेल.

Pornima(Full moon night)

Today is Hanuman Jayanti, full moon night. Thinking randomly about full moon nights.
While driving in Bali our local car driver told us that tomorrow is whole moon night. Every whole moon night, he and most of the local Hindus gather at seashore to pray. Though Indonesia has largest Muslim population country in the world, one can see the Hindu culture's signs everywhere. In fact, I found all Indian God's and Goddesses statues in the national museum situated in Jakarta (Capital of  Indonesia). I was quite surprised to see a huge statue of Shri Krishna driving Arjuna in 8 horses chariot at a central square of this city. Many Muslim are named from the characters of Mahabharata like Arjuna, Yudhishthir, etc.

Bali's 80% population is Hindu though Bali is part of Indonesia which is the most populated Muslim country in the world. Many Hindu's relocated to Bali from main islands of Indonesia due to fear of forced conversion. In fact, I have experienced the Hindu culture the moment we landed at Bali Airport and also didn't get any surprise when we realized our driver was Hindu too. Somehow he recognized that we too are Indians and Hindu; his conversation revolved around culture and related topics.

Acting as volunteer host he informed that tomorrow is full moon night and added we all gather together at sea shore to pray. According to him, all Hindus pray at full moon night. But when he asked don't you pray in India on the full moon? I was puzzled.

But then I realized that every full moon night is celebrated as one or other festival in India. HoliPornima, Chaitra Poornima as HanumanJayanti. Jyesth Purnima as Vat Purnima, VaishakhPornima as  Buddha Jayanti. Shravan Purnima as Rakshabandhan. Aswin Pornima as KojagiriPornima. Kartik Poornima as Tripuri Purnima. Margashirsh Purnima as Dutt Jayanti and so on.

So I am wondering why full moon night is so important? What's special about it.?
Not only in Hinduism but also in Buddhism, Jainism, Islam and Christianity full moon night is so important.

Just by curiosity, I started reading more and more about the full moon. and wonders of wonder I got much scientific information how it's related to human body and psychology too.

Just wondering how our ancestors were having that much knowledge in that era.
